Rotating Machinery Vibration Analysis

Accurately measuring noise and vibrations on rotating and reciprocating machines requires high performance instruments featuring the right functionalities: especially when machines are investigated during run-ups and coast-downs. You will find the adapted analyzing techniques in OROS Rotating Solutions ideal for your machine's variabilities.

Synchronous order tracking: Analyzing rotors and shafts where speed is rapidly varying must be performed with synchronous order tracking. No worries: the analysis is automatically optimized in real time to adapt to the changing speed. The synchronous order analysis mode gives accurate results on applications involving fast run-up/down, coast down, or rotor balancing. This analysis is based on the signal re-sampling synchronized with the tachometer, resulting in a steady exploitable display: the order spectra. This is the most efficient solution for order tracking on machines with fast rotation speed variations.

The Waterfall module gathers all the results (resonances, imbalance, modulation...) simultaneously in a large 3D dataset. This helps you easily localize the critical information

For run-up, torque application, or even stabilized speed trials, the FFT mode provides a complete Constant Band Tracking, helping engineers getting modulated and buried vibration orders on gearboxes with the appropriate band pass extraction.

The machine behavior can be somehow different in the field because of the structural coupling with the foundation. Under those circumstances a field test has to be carried out to determine the mechanical impedance of the foundation. ORBIGate® is used for the rotating tests and benefits of the OROS solutions range such as OROS Modal 2 for the other tests. The portability and ruggedness of OROS analyzers is key when realizing these on-site tests. A user-friendly software interface as well as customized report templates are also important in these measurement environments.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics

Start-up Operation/Machinery Diagnostic Survey

A machinery delivery is more than the installation and the start up. For large industrial pumps, turbines, or even compressors the first days must be monitored carefully. During this critical time, misalignments, unbalance or a bearing fault may appear. The same situation occurs when an installed engine or generator shows unpredictable behavior that must be identified prior to stop its exploitation. In order to keep an advanced analysis measurement on such machinery, vibration service test engineers use VibeMaster and additional tools proposed by OROS such as ORBIGate® or Balancing. It operates autonomously, controlling any degradation signs. Automatic alarms, e-mail notifications and, of course, a remote internet control of the current acquisition are some of the VibeMaster features that give them the expected peace of mind.
